More outdoor furniture

As the summer has progressed we have felt a need for a more casual place to sit outside. We don't always want to be a the table. So we bought ourselves two chairs to relax in. I'm looking forward to many coffees and glasses of wine in them.

Windows are finished...and so is the last bit of trim!

Here are the finished windows. We can't get to the cross hatching inside the double pain so it is just going to have to do until the windows need to replaced. They are covered with sheers anyways.

Mike finished painting the trim along the wall between the kitchen and dining room too. Now the main floor is finished. Only two more floors and a whole lot of trim.

Here is the same shot before we started on the trim (below).

Sneak peek

I'm almost 20 hours in to painting the three windows and trim. One more coat to go. Here is a sneak peek.

Windows this week

I'm getting ready to paint the window trim and windows this week. I sanded, washed, and taped today. It's only 4 pm so I might prime too but I'm taking a break first...

Home Improvements part 3

Painting painting and more painting. This weekend we removed the front closet doors and pantry door, sanded, washed, primed, and put two coats of paint on them. It took a surprisingly long time to do this as well as to do the same to the door jams. We do love the finished look!  In a week or so I'll start on the windows in the kitchen, room and dining room.

Dirty Dog

Cali keeps us busy. From digging holes and getting dirty paws to shedding like crazy, we are in a constant battle to keep the house reasonably clean.

This is what I pulled out from under her toes!
And this was after we had already bathed her and got at least this much hair off.

Home Improvements Part 2

My Mom and Dad came out in the beginning of June and helped us replace the ugly trim we had on our main level.  Not only was the trim a dark wood but it was super "dated" with groved trim and at each corner a square medallion.  So not our style!  We replaced it with boring standard white trim (more our style).  We still have to pain all of the windows and window trim as well as the closet doors but it is a huge improvement.

And then we needed to paint the front door, garage door and side door because you could really tell they weren't white.

Home improvements Part 1

We have slowly been making some home improvements.
First up, ugly fan/light transformed to less hideous (not perfect but an improvement).
